آج اگر کوئ قران کی بے حرمتی کرتا ہے تو پورے عالم اسلام میں احتجاج ہوتا ہے لیکن معاویہ وہ پہلا شخص تھا جس نے جنگ صفین میں قران کو ایک جنگی چال کے طور پر نیزوں پر چڑھا کر اپنا دفع کیا اور اس عظیم کتاب کی بے حرمتی کی- افسوس ایسے شخص کی تعریف میں پرپیگینڈا کر کے لوگوں کو گمراہ کیا جا نہا ہے- نیز حضور(ص) نےمولا علی علیہ سلام کو کل ایمان غزوہ خیبر کے موقعہ پرکہا لیکن ان پرہر جمعہ کے خطبے میں لعن طعن کا سلسلہ معاویہ نے شروع کیا جو اسپین سے سندھ تک 70 سال تک جاری رہا جسے بنو امیہ کے حاکم عمر بن عبدالعزیزنے بند کرایا-

شیعہ اتنے خوش نصیب ہیں۔کہ اھلبیت سے مخبت ہی واقعی شیعہ کرتے ہیں۔تو پھر ہم اھلسنت والے تو اصخاب کو مانتے ہیں۔اصخاب بھی اھلبیت کو مانتے تھے۔ابوسفیان,معاویہ اور یذید کو ہم نہیں مانتے۔یہ ظالمین تو وھابی اور اھل خدیث والے مانتے ہیں۔ھم اھل سنت وھابیوں اور اھل خدیث والو کو مسلمان نہیں مانتے ۔یہ سب کافر ہیں۔کیونکہ وھابیت کا مقصد صرف اھلبیت اور اسکے ماننے والو سے دشمنی ہوتی ہے۔وھابی یذید کو اپنا امام مانتے ہیں پھر کس طرخ وہ مسلمان ہیں

Ali’s electetion

the prophet's cousin and son-in-law was elected to the caliphate by the rebels, the Ansar (early Medinan Muslims), and the Muhajirun (early Meccan Muslims). While the election of Ali faced little opposition, his support was limited among the Quraysh, some of whom aspired to the caliphate. The Umayyads (Uthman's tribesmen) and some others thereby left Medina––some thus breaking their oaths of allegiance––and soon rebelled against Ali.

Beyond this, historians disagree about Ali's measures to protect the third caliph. Jafri and Madelung highlight Ali's multiple attempts for reconciliation during the two sieges, and Hinds believes that Ali could not have done anything more for Uthman, supporting whom would have meant supporting the infamous Umayyads. Donner and Gleave suggest that Ali was the immediate beneficiary of Uthman's death.

Sa'ad ibn Abi Waqqas, Abdullah ibn Umar, and Usama ibn Zayd refused to give their oaths, though the case of Usama is challenged by Madelung who concludes that he pledged allegiance to Ali but did not fight in his battles.

Talha and Zubayr, both companions of Muhammad with ambitions for the high office, gave their pledges though they later broke their oaths, claiming that they had pledged allegiance to Ali under pressure.

The Umayyads fled Medina after Uthman's murder, notable among them Marwan. Some leading Quraysh figures also left Medina without giving an oath of allegiance to Ali or after breaking it. Most of them gathered in Mecca, though some made their way to Damascus. In particular, Talha and Zubayr left Medina on the pretext of performing the omra (lesser pilgrimage). Muhammad's widow Aisha was already in Mecca, having left Medina earlier for the omra despite the pleas of Uthman, who believed her presence in Medina would restrain the rebels from attack. When she learned about Ali's election, she immediately began to mobilize the rebel party against Ali in favor of her close relatives, Talha and Zubayr. She did so ostensibly to seek justice for Uthman, though McHugo and Jafri question her motives, noting that she had earlier actively incited the Muslims against Uthman.
