I do not know what Engineer is talking about Muslims in America that they wear their pants above the ankles.
I live in America, and once a week go to Mosque for Jumma prayer. Most of the attendees have pants well below their ankles and touching the floors. Only Pakistanis, Indians, and Bangla Deshis fold their pants from the bottom. Even the Imams' kurta is below the ankles.
When I heard Engineer, I fixed some of my pants myself and rest my wife got them fixed for 8 dollar a pant.
